Practical guide with working preset
OBS Scrolling Ticker
A broadcast ticker needs consistent dimensions and motion more than decorative effects. This preset uses a 1920×200 strip and a green background that can be removed with chroma key when transparent browser capture is not available.
When to use it
Use it for livestream schedules, lower-third announcements, supporter names, event reminders, or a temporary breaking-news style strip.
Setup steps
- 1
Replace the sample message and preview one full pass.
- 2
Copy Embed code for an OBS Browser Source, or export WebM at the same dimensions.
- 3
In OBS, set the source to 1920×200 and crop or chroma-key as needed.
Readability tips
- Use Plain Marquee when crisp chroma key edges matter.
- Keep the browser source and project frame rate compatible.
- Do not put critical information only in a fast-moving ticker.
- Test the final OBS scene before going live.
Frequently asked questions
Why does OBS refuse the embed URL?
A CDN or hosting rule may still block framing. Allow the dedicated embed route or use a local WebM export.
Does WebM include preview music?
No. Preview audio is local and is not mixed into the exported WebM.
